Since my future classroom will hopefully be kindergarten to first grade there isn't much software for them to personally use. Nor do I personally believe that a lot of technology should be implemented everyday in that young of a group. But, there is plenty of academic software that I can utilize as a teacher. Of course Microsoft products are on my list so that I can effectively create fun learning worksheets, lesson plans, and effectively email the same mail to hoards of parents. I think concept mapping may be helpful for me because sometimes I have trouble being organized with my thoughts so inspiration or bubbl may also be helpful. That may also be applicable to teaching with as well to display connections to the kids.
If I'll be perfectly honest I am far from a social media person. I'm 21 and don't even have snapchat or anything similar. It took me a good year to finally download Instagram. It's just not my cup of tea. So, naturally it's hard for me to take the time and effort to go on Twitter. I really just stick to educational posts that I find interesting for the class. It could be helpful for following other teachers and used as a networking tool.

Hi Alexis! Great blog post! Microsoft programs are definitely great to use in a classroom, and I can’t remember a year that my teachers have not used them. I also think concept mapping would be really helpful for students in kindergarten or first grade since it would provide them with helpful visuals for what they’re learning. I’m also not very experienced with Twitter, so I usually stick with the educational posts too. :)
ReplyDeleteHey Alexis, Microsoft programs are definitely so necessary in our every day lives now. I personally feel like I have been switching over to Google programs like Google Docs because it is so accessible. I liked the concept mapping assignment too.
ReplyDeleteHi Alexis, Microsoft programs are definetly technology that will be consistent throughout this era. With the grade level you are looking at I believe you are on the right track on your way of teaching!
