I can't come up with a new technology source that I would like to learn off of the top of my head. But, I think it would be helpful and important to advance my skills in the applications I do use and know. Of course I know the basics but I am far from an expert and there are still parts that I struggle with. So before I try to learn the basics or progress with something else I'd like to hone in my skills I have today. Check out my comments on  Sierra's  and  Gabi's  blogs!

As a future educator I'm trying to gain as much information and resources to use as possible. I have about a year until I graduate and within this year the plan is to place myself in as many teaching environments as possible. meaning, volunteer in and out of traditional classroom settings to further my experience and knowledge. In this upcoming year I can utilize these experiences to ask educators about how they use technology and their opinions on how effective it is teaching students. My plan is to always leave room for development and learning of technology uses in the classroom. As I stated in my previous blog post, powerpoint is an application I feel very familiar with and comfortable with. I enjoyed using it as an interactive story to teach children about space and to use as a storybook for the children story. In my future classroom I will definitely use powerpoint often because I enjoy it and it's an easy useful teaching resource. Check out my comments on  Gabi...

The Flipped Classroom: This approach is an unstructured way to teach outside of a traditional classroom setting. For example, the teacher and student may meet in the real classroom but the teacher may record the sessions or have outside notes about the lesson available online to the students. This benefits both absent students and students who want a better understanding of lecture material. I believe this is a great way for students to have an abundance of classroom resources and learning material to their advantage. The Digital Divide: The digital divide is the idea that with more and more technology being incorporated in life itself the more the gap grows between people with access and those without. This means that everyone may not have access to equal education or educational resources. If one student has access to an abundance of resources and one does not then there is not a fair opportunity to succeed. Unfortunately, as a teacher I will most likely see this gap within my car...

Assistive and adaptive technologies are used to help create independence in those who may not have access to utilizing technology the way others do. Some may not be able to hear the sounds from the computer, see the screen, or move the mouse. Adaptive services can help make a site or application more accessible for these cases. I remember in the news a few months ago there was a girl who could not move or speak but the computer game would sense her eye movement. That is a great example of assistive or adaptive technology. Other than news stories I have not seen technology firsthand but I have witnessed aides in schools to help children.  As I've stated in previous posts my ideal classroom would be about 80% hands-on learning activities and 20% would be them accessing technology. That does not include me teaching from a smartboard or powerpoint however.  I felt like the webquest was pretty fun. I've used Wix before to create a website and I now see it as a great tool for te...

I went to Hawks Rise Elementary as a kid so I decided to check out their teacher pages. I looked at kindergarten specifically and they were all about the same. They all had cute bubbly introductions as well as a meet the teacher section, sight word for practice page, resources, and class schedule as well as a few other module choices. For this young of a grade these teacher pages are directed to the parent for extra help with their child as well as helpful encouragement to work with their child outside of class to promote healthy development. As I’ve stated in a previous blogpost I’m not exactly the most social media fluid person in the world. Creating a blogpost weekly is just like doing an assignment for any class. As if I’m typing up a short and sweet paper each Monday. That being said I do like how I can be somewhat creative with how my blog looks. I love looking at my classmates blogs because they get really into it and they look fantastic. I’ve learned that I should use h...

Since my future classroom will hopefully be kindergarten to first grade there isn't much software for them to personally use. Nor do I personally believe that a lot of technology should be implemented everyday in that young of a group. But, there is plenty of academic software that I can utilize as a teacher. Of course Microsoft products are on my list so that I can effectively create fun learning worksheets, lesson plans, and effectively email the same mail to hoards of parents. I think concept mapping may be helpful for me because sometimes I have trouble being organized with my thoughts so inspiration or bubbl may also be helpful. That may also be applicable to teaching with as well to display connections to the kids.  If I'll be perfectly honest I am far from a social media person. I'm 21 and don't even have snapchat or anything similar. It took me a good year to finally download Instagram. It's just not my cup of tea. So, naturally it's hard for me to take...
